Marsh mallow (Althaea officinalis) is a plant from the family of European Malvaceae. Its medicinal raw material are: leaves, flowers and dried root, containing rich active substances: approx. 37% starch, 11% pectin, and also mineral salts, tannins, organic acids (phenol, galacturonic, glucuronic), rhamnose, asparagine, and betaine. It is anti-inflammatory, expectorant, slightly laxative and diuretic, prevents the development of kidney stones. It is used in the inflammation of the throat and gastrointestinal tract. Accelerates the healing of wounds (e.g. ulcers of the lower limbs). Used in the form of hot and cold herbal teas, infusions, etc..
