3,3-diiodothyronine (3,3'-T2) is a chemical compound belonging to iodothyronine, which is one of two forms of T2 used in supplementation. It can be naturally produced from the basic thyroid hormone, i.e. triiodothyronine (T3) and its biologically inactive form, referred to as reverse triiodothyronine (rT3).
Specialists suggest that 3,3-diiodothyronine shows a certain ability to improve energy transformations taking place in the body, and consequently, it will accelerate the rate of metabolism and increase the basic metabolism. It seems that it does not significantly affect the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis or TSH level. Unfortunately, some rodent studies prove that it may worsen glucose tolerance and cause fatty liver. The results of these studies cast doubt on its beneficial effect on the rate of fat reduction.
In supplementation, 3,3-diiodothyronine can be found in the composition of preparations aimed at weight loss, available at www.muscle-zone.pl
